    C2 Idle Issue

    Looking for some help.

Last night, I started the car, a 66 327/300, (after a one week break) and noticed that the engine was idling about 300-400 RPMs faster than normal with choke. After the car warmed up and we had driven a little, the engine was still idling way to high @1100 RPMs when it usually is at 650. NO adjustments had been made at all to the engine from a week ago when the car idled normal. This just happened out of the blue. I let it sit over night and started it again this AM and have the same problem. Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Rob

Check to see if the fast idle cam is sticking. It should drop down freely once the choke pull-off has vacuum and/or the engine warms up. A little carb cleaner may be needed to free the cam.

(Engine off)With the choke wide open and a little throttle applied the cam should drop quickly when lifted and released.

      Bill,

      Thanks for the tip, you're most likely right - I didn't check. I'll give it a try/look.

      Regards,
      Rob

Also check for a vacuum leak.
