Does anyone know of a source for intake bolts for my 71 LT-1. A previous owner used socket head bolts, and I want to return them to the correct hex. Second question, did the original bolt have a washer under it?

Re: Correct C3 LT-1 intake bolts
Joe--looked at the Paragon catalog and there are two bolt head styles listed for 1971. One set of 12 has a head mark of "TR"
The other set has an "M" on ten of the bolts and "double circle" on two. The second set is meant for the pull bracket. That also brings up the question about the engine pull bracket. Did they all have the bracket? Was the bracket on the left front only, or was there a corresponding bracket at the right rear?- Top

Re: Correct C3 LT-1 intake bolts
Steve----
There are 2 lift brackets on the engines. However, only the left front bracket attaches to the manifold. For 1971, this bracket is attached by 2 of the manifold bolts. The right rear bracket attaches to the rear of the cylinder head and not the intake manifold.
I believe that LT-1 used zinc plated manifold bolts. The black phosphate bolts were used for engines with painted manifolds. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Correct C3 LT-1 intake bolts
We typically see original intake manifolds with as many as five different head marks (counting the stud in 1970 & 1972). I am aware of only one source for all those different marks, and that was 30 years ago. Reproduction fasteners are generally of only two head marks, as you have noted.
The passenger side lift bracket on small blocks (manual transmission only) attached by the bell housing to engine bolt - the upper of the two that are one above the other. Mark IV motors had a bracket attached to the back of the head.Terry- Top
