Casting Date vs Assembly Date

Wonder what is the closest assembly date to the casting date anyone has seen. Recently talked to a guy who has a 69 BB engine (for another GM product) for sale with supposedly an original stamp that was assembled one day after casting. I thought it sounded too close.

Not that unusual - Flint Engine was 50 miles from the Saginaw Foundry, and there are many documented blocks assembled the next day; at Tonawanda, the blocks were cast right next door, on the same piece of property.

I have judged at least two 350,s 73-77 with the cast and build date the same day.Many with one day and any more than 14 days will get a closer look by me. Lyle

Not a BBC...but it's close to what you're discussing...

'65 327-350HP...

Engine Casting Date = May 18, 1965

Engine Assembly Date = May 20, 1965

Original Engine which came in the car...
