    1966 Gas Filler Door

I think there is a discrepancy between the 1966 Corvette Technical Information Manual & Judging Guide with the 63-67 Fact Book. The technical guide states that the right flag (Black and White checkering) has the white starting in the upper left hand corner and that some reproductions have the black in the upper left corner. This is on page 44 section 9.

In the fact book, on page 190, it shows a 66 filler door and notes that the checker flag has the black on the top left square and that post production doors had the white square in this position. Can someone help? Which is correct?

    Thank you.

      Mike,

I just received both from the NCRS online store. The Tech. Info. Manual and Judging guide is the third edition, summer 2000, second printing. The Fact Book is the ninth edition M.F. Dobbins 1989.

Re: What are the published dates of your two books

The Fact book is another excellent tool and my copy of Noland's book (1988) says "White upper left" until about 8,931 when "black upper left" began appearing sporadically and continued until about 26,371 when the colors switched back. However, with eleven additional years of confirming data and the JG used as the reference for judging, would't it make sense to rely on the recently revised NCRS publication as the criterion?

You might want to look at other items. The castin on the repos is different as well as the backing plate. See the judging manual for details

Thank you for the info. Looks like I have a little more research to do. Thanks again.
