Just pulled the Holley carb off my 67' L79 to rebuild it and noticed the date code may be wrong . It's a model 4160 #3906631-da List 3810 which all appears to be correct but the number below the list # is 3482, which I believe is the date code. I read somewhere that 4 digit date codes didn't start until 1972. Is that correct? Could this be a replacement and not the original carb?? Would appreciate any help on this! #4743-3810 is also stamped on the carb body.
Is this correct Carb?

Re: Is this correct Carb?
Mike, I hope I'm wrong and you have the right carburator. But it was my impression that the older Holleys were dated by YEAR-MONTH-WEEK. That has since changed to DAYS-YEAR Only. So if you had a 70403 that would be 1967,April,3rd week. Or as the new ones show, I just purchased two 2002 or 200th day of the year 2000.
I stand to be corrected as I've read other methods of the ID to these Holleys so I hope I'm wrong and you have as previously mentioned the correct Holley. I'm always willing to learn something new to help out a member later. Good Luck,grr#33570- Top

Re: Is this correct Carb?
Mike - this is the correct list carb for 67 if you don't have calif AIR in which case it is a 3814. The 3482 means it is a service replacement carburetor built on the 348'th day of 1972 (or perhaps 82 etc). The originals were 3 digits, with the first digit being the year of manufacture (7 for 1967), the second digit being month of manufacture (1=Jan, 2=Feb, etc), and the 3rd digit is production week (1-4 (maybe 5 in some months?).....Craig- Top
