    Lacquer Paint in Florida

After searching through the archives, I wonder if anyone knows where I can find lacquer paint in Central Florida. Since the 1979 Corvette I have is mostly original, and I only need to paint a small area for a fender repair, I don't want to use enamel.

The local paint store says they can only supply me with lacquer in black or clear.

    Their options for me are:

    DUPG-8 Chroma one MI
    DUPA-8 Acrylic Enamel M

The reason for trying to find it local is I still have the small piece of fender loose and can let them match the color so that it matches the car better. I imagine that there has been some color change even though the car has been garaged most of its life.

The color if it makes a difference to anyone is 28L Light Blue or Frost Blue, depending on who names it.

    Try a PPG Paint dealer.

Another thing to keep in mind, is that a lot of PPG dealers will not stock lacquer, but may be willing to order some for you if it is available in a factory-pack color. DDL 9300, or Tuxedo Black is an example of colors that are only available now days in factory-pack, and should be available to any PPG dealer, asuming he is willing to get it for you.

Yor really need to find an old-timey dealer who is willing to work with you on the mix to get a proper color match.

Thanks - Re: Lacquer Paint in Florida

Thanks, I tried finding a PPG dealer. The one in town turns out to be the one I was at yesterday who didn't have any DuPont. Apparently no PPG either, since I was fairly straight that I wanted lacquer and I'd look for lacquer first.

I tried a few body shops in town and they all pointed me to that same shop. Apparently, they don't know, or they get better service.

Does anyone in the Orlando area or the Tampa area have a shop they get lacquer from?

Oh, the one I have to match is the '79 Light Blue code 28L as it is the one I'm only doing a fender. That is the color that looks like one drop of dark blue in a gallon of white. Naturally being 25 years old, it can't match the original mix without some work.

The '63 and '68 will be the full car so matching old won't be a problem.
