Are there any books or web sites that lists parts that was used on corvettes and passenger cars that are the same, with or with out part numbers such as generators, carburetors, radio capacitors, seat belts and distributors? I am sure there are others. Jimmy

Re: Passenger car parts that are the same as Corve
Jimmy - I'm thinking that the book John is reffering to is - "I Need a Part for my Classic Corvette" by Research Specialties. I got mine through the NCRS Bookstore. It covers 53-77 models. It's got most of the major items, and is a good starting point. Ask Eric to bring one to Carlisle, if you're going.
Another helpful book might be one of the GM Parts and Illusration catalogs for a group of years. They appear from time to time on Ebay or swap meets. This might not show a direct cross-reference as such, but still helpful.
Can't have enough reference material in this game....Regards, Dick- Top

Another source is the type of interchange manual used by salvage yards. I have a 1979 edition of Auto Interchange Systems' 1950-65 GM Interchange manual that is usefull for this purpose.- Top

Re: Passenger car parts that are the same as Corve
Jimmy-----
For the most part, parts commonality between 53-82 Corvettes and passenger cars is limited to engine, transmission, and some front suspension/steering parts. For C1s, there is also commonality as far as rear axle components go. For 53-64, there is some commonality relative to brake components. Otherwise, there is not a lot of commonality of parts between Corvettes and passenger cars. There may be a piece here-and-there that the cars have in common, but nothing really to speak of.
For C4 and C5 Corvettes, there is even less commonality with passenger cars. Engine and transmission components are just about the only areas of parts commonality. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
