'58 Cowl Vent

Does the cowl vent for a '58 typically have the two "V" notches on the hinge side shown in Mary Jo's picture below? The one for my '58 has the same two notches but they look like Bubba cut them. Thanks, Ted

Ted, mine does, SN 8490. Very rough cuts.

I had my cowl vent out earlier this year, it also had the notches - in fact, I had a devil of a time getting the thing off the car because I didn't ralize the notches were there until it was out. I think they are for clearance vs. the two diagonal (fore-aft) support braces.

My late '59 has them as well. They are 1/2" deep by 1 5/8" wide on 8 3/4" centers. They look like they were done at the factory.

Thanks for the responses. Mine are very rough

so I figured maybe Bubba had made them. They sure didn't look factory. I didn't remember if my '60 had them or not. Terry mine is SN 9128 so they're not too far apart. Thanks again, Ted
