I have the door catch assemblies out while painting the car and would like to clean them and relube them. Is it OK to wash them out in solvent and then relube them. What type of grease should i use on them. Also any other tips on rebuildiong them. Thanks Sheldon

If you wash in solvent, be sure to wipe clean and dry before you reinstall. Don't want any paint eating substances on your new paint. I would lube with a white lithium grease such as "Lubriplate" (sp?). readily available at auto parts stores.

I HAVE USED A PRODUCT CALLED DUCASOL ON ALL MINE. I WORKS GREAT. ANY PRO- AUTO DETAIL SHOP THAT CARRIES THE BRAND NAME DUCAN WILL MOST LIKELY HAVE IT. I LEAVE THEM TO SOAK IN IT OVER NIGHT, NEXT DAY THEY LOOK BRAND NEW. IT WORK GREAT ON JUST ABOUT EVERY THING IT TOUCHES EXCEPT POLISH ALUMINUM (DULLS IT) AND PAINT(MAKES SPOTS SO BE CAREFULL, BUT THEY DO BUFF OUT EASY). IT ALSO WORKS REALLY WELL ON A/C LINES BRINGS THEM UP TO A WHITISH SHINE CLOSE TO WHAT I BELIEVE THEY LOOKED LIKE NEW. FLAT OUT THE BEST DEGEASER/CLEANER I KNOW OF. PS DONT CUT IT WITH WATER WHEN YOUR DOING REALLY DIRTY PARTS IT WORKS WAY BETTER AT FULL STRENGHT
