I just looked at a '65 coupe that is coded HG. The stamp pad numbers match the vin plate and the title (couldn't get to any frame #'s), assembly date is F0604HG, and the vin is S12057(x)(I put X in place of actual #) which seems to be about right. A3586 body trim K-09 std Paint is FF. No p/b, p/s, p/w, a/c, etc.. Does have a 6500 redrine tach, 4 speed (could not get to the numbers, but the owner of 14 years who bought this at Bloomington says that they match). There is no FI unit/air cleaner/dist. There is a hole in the rad. support where the "S" tube might have mounted. Can see where the side emblems holes have been filled. What else can I look for to determine if this is a real fulie? Appears to have un-hit, original body panels and bonding strips, no rust on frame/windshild posts/body mounts/etc.. Paint is fair to good, chrome and stainless are good to very good, everything functions propery except clock, has solid lifters with a 365 hp intake, factory side pipes, and it screams. All driveline components seem to be in very good condition(lots of repair/refurbish receits from the past 14 years. Seems like a pretty nice car, and I am considering buying it, but I need to get a price range---1) if it is a fulie and 2) if isn't. Owner is asking $24,000.00 Thanks to all, G.

Re: '65 Fulie coupe ????
John, I did take some photos and do have one of the right exhaust manifold that appears to have a choke tube hole. If you send me an e mail I will send that photo and any others that you may care to view. G.- Top

Re: '65 Fulie coupe ????
Holes in the drivers side inner fender for the FI air cleaner, check the core support to see if it is an origianl, frankly. at 24K in today's market the price is right if it's only a driver.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: '65 Fulie coupe ????
George,
The easiest and most fool proof way to tell a real 65 FI car is to look for evidence of the original holes in the side fenders where the crossed flag emblem would have been on a non FI car. To build an FI from a non FI, the side flag emblems have to be removed and new holes drilled in a different location for the FI emblems. This would leave evidence of the hole repair/fill that just can't ever be hidden on the inside of the fender. You may have to remove a little black paint in that area behind the fender but then you will know for sure.
If the front end fiberglass is original and there are filled holes, It's likely it's not genuine.
Almost everything else can be schmoozed to look real, including the core support. Most other items are just bolt on pieces.

Re: '65 Fulie coupe ????
George,
I was going to suggest that you check the radiator support to see if there were angled holes for the screws that attach the S tube to the radiator support. The special screws had to be angled to have room to attach the s tube.

Floyd
