    C-1 Generator Pulley

I am attempting to replace the 3 5/8 inch generator pulley on my 1960 270 HP car. I have removed the large nut but the pulley doesn't move. I don't want to use force unless I know I am doing the right thing. Thanks in advance for the help.

    Re: C-1 Generator Pulley

    Nicholas,
The pully is keyed onto the shaft. Most likely time and rust is holding it on. I'd soak the pully area with Krol and let set a day or so. Either devise a home made puller to pull off from the shaft or try gently tapping against a wood block held against the backside of the pulley. If it won't budge with gentle taps around the perimeter, I'd devise a pulley and pull it off. Regards,

it's on the armature shaft with a light friction fit and a keyway. set it up in a press or hold the generator by the pully and strike the armature shaft with a brass-faced hammer while elevated above the workbench that you previously padded with cardboard to catch the errrant generator when it and the pully divorce.mike
