    '65 rear wheel studs

A friend recently sheared 4 of the 5 rear wheel studs on his '65 big block coupe. Fortunately, no damage to car or driver. Can the wheel studs be replaced without removing the stub axle from the trailing arm/bearing assembly?

Don't think so -- the stud is 2.0" long and ...

the space from the head of the stud to the face of the dust shield (with parking brake shoes removed) is only 1.25". Best to press the spindle out of the support and do the job properly. Check for twisted splines on the spindle at the same time
