I have an early '69 427/435. The emissions label on the firewall above the master cylinder has a 'U' on it which I haven't found on any other 427/435. I know the car is correct since I have the tank sticker but I haven't ever seen this emissons sticker on another 435 car. Paragon repro shows this sticker correct for a '68 350/350 so perhaps the factory was using up stickers from '68. Does anyone have a '69 427/435 with a 'U' emissions sticker or a '68 350/350 with the same?
Thanks
In 69, emission labels went to the two-letter code. The "U" code was used in 68 on the 327/350 manual transmission, engine suffix code HT. Code "CN" is used on 427/435s.
I don't believe the factory would have been using up their inventory...these were the emission certifications that a particular power team met the federal emission standards for a given production year which is not to say that deviations never occurred. Look to see if it was placed on top of another which remains underneath.
