74 wipers

Hello:

I asked this question awhile back and no one had an answer so I will suggest one and hope that if I am wrong someone will stop me before I break something.

The windshield wipers on my 74 run off the windshield. I have adjusted them as set forth in the Assembly Manual without success.

What about this: the TRANS ASM Linkage has a bend in it, what if I bend it some more? This should effectively shorten the linkage and reduce the sweep of the wiper.

Any other ideas?

I had a similar problem where all the adjustment was not enough to keep the wiper from going past the windshield by one inch. I corrected it by bending the wiper arm enough to reduce the sweep and still "park" the blades properly when turned off. It was the driver side only that was the problem. If it is the passenger side you have to first check to see if bending the arm will cause the two wiper arms to crash when cycling. The arms are spring steel so considerable force is required and the potential of breaking the wiper arm is a concern. Good luck.

Hello Don:

I thought about bending the wiper arms but was afraid the blades would be out of position at rest. I am surprised that only you and I have had this problem. Maybe everyone is at Carlisle. Anyway, thanks for your input, it may be the only solution.
