I just used Duramix 4188 to rebond hood surround that broke loose. The instructions say it has a 24 hour cure time, it is well over that now. It dried a glossy black and at edges where it seeped out its very flexible feels like rubber. I don't know if it needs more time to cure or if it was bad. I'd hade to have to clean it all out again but I'd also hate to put the body back on and have it break loose again. Anyone have experince with this product that could help? Greatly appreciate it

Re: Duramix panel adhesive
Larry, if the panels on your 69 are original polyester fiberglass panels (not SMC), use of Duramix adhesive was unnecessary, but it should work just the same. Polyester bonding adhesive cures hard, exceptionally strong and fractures when overloaded.
I haven't used Duramix before, and I am unfamiliar with the character of the material after curing. If it is epoxy-based, my opinion is you have gotten some material that was undercatalyzed or past it's shelf life. Did you determine amount of catalyst or was it predetermined by the applicator device?- Top
