c2 ammeter charging opposite

hello all,
for some reason my am meter is working in the opposite direction! I've just installed a new alternator alt and now the gauge is working in reverse. I did bench test it and it worked fine for both charge and discharge, but now that it is back in the car its the complete opposite. any suggestions?

If, by chance, did you remove the ammeter? If so, it is possible that you reversed the leads on the back when you reinstalled it.

Are you sure the system is charging? What is the voltage at the battery while the engine is at fast idle. It should be around 14 volts. If the voltage is ok then somehow the leads to the ampmeter got reversed. Check the battery voltage when the engine off and compare it to when it's running. If the battery voltage does not increase, then the ampmeter or voltage regulator have a problem.
