'80 Oil Pressure gauge pegs. (Too High)

When I turn the key to "Run", my oil pressure gauge moves all the way to one side. (Too high) It looks like the wire or sending unit is bad. What color of wire I'm I looking for? And where is the sending unit mounted into the engine?
    Thanks Ken

'74 and later Corvette used a variable resistance pressure switch to drive the oil press guage. It mounts in the RH side of the engine block and a single, tan, wire connects to it (slide terminal mounted vertically on the top of the sender).
