    C-1 Valve Covers

The fourth edition of 1958-60 Corvette Technical Information Manual & Judging Guide ( p 48) says that 1958 models with the optional die-cast aluminum valve covers have seven fins and the low-relief script (.030") with 1959 and 1960 covers having high-relief (.125").The Complete Corvette Restoration & Technical Guide - Vol. 1 1953 through 1962 by Adams (p 236) says that the low-profile script was raised to the high-profile script on the blueprint date of Jan. 25, 1958 approx. serial number 103600 which would say that late 1958s would have the high profile. Which is correct ?
Also I assume the casting flaws running through the letter "O" in the "Corvette" are in replacement covers and not original.

    Thanks

Dwight, I would tend to follow the info in the current NCRS TIM&JG. Regarding the casting flaw through the letter O, I tend to recall your car would use the staggered bolt valve covers which were never plagued with the casting flaw. That is a straight across bolt 1966 on up issue. Best, Dennis

Thanks Dennis. I would normally follow the NCRS TIM&JG but I noticed this past weekend at Carlise that a few of the NCRS judges were referring to the Restoration Guide on other questions - clearly the two are different on this point.

Dwight,, If I were to respond to your post...

... it would probably only lead to trouble I don't want to deal with. Best, Dennis
