Well, I spent Friday, Saturday, and much of Sunday at Carlisle. It was, as usual, a GREAT event, and I enjoyed it very much. I didn't really buy anything significant----just a few tools and a few "reference" bolts, but I did look over just about everything there. A HUGE assortment of parts was for sale, as usual also. I saw quite a few of the 73-only coolant recovery tanks for sale. Not a single NOS example did I find, but there were MANY good used ones out there and the prices were very reasonable. So, if one needs such a piece, one should have been at Carlisle.
The best thing of all about Carlisle, though, was the camaraderie, fellowship and just getting together with old friends. The Vetteheads tent was THE place to be. The bash on Friday night was ABSOLUTELY INCOMPARABLE in EVERY WAY. Much thanks to the great bunch of fellow Vetteheads that made it all possible through their untiring dedication. I just can't tell everyone how much I appreciated it. It made me fully appreciate and understand what it means to be a Vettehead, and I don't know that I'll ever be the same again.
Saturday night I was able to get together with my fellow members in the Down River Corvette Club (the club is based in Michigan and I'm the only California member; something that I'm TRULY and SINCERELY proud of. I look forward to that dinner ever year. A finer bunch of guys are not to be found anywhere.
The NCRS display was fantastic, as usual, and it was great to see and speak with many fellow board regulars.
The "King of Cork" was in his usual spot distributing the new reference manual absolutely free of charge. Debbie was charming the customers while the King and I were discussing a whole range of issues that are certain to change the Corvette world for evermore. We were also trying to figure out the largest prime number---- a quest the world's greatest mathematicians for have been working on for ages. The King thinks he has it figured out, but I told him that whatever he's come up with, there's a prime number larger than that one.
Anyway, "my cup runneth over" at Carlisle. And, since I didn't find any parts that I didn't already have and also wanted, I didn't have to spend much money. Plus, since I'm off eBay while I'm away, I'm not spending any money there, either. Who knows, this vacation might end up being a money-saver for me?
Anyway, I'll be here in the northeast "grazing" on lobsters and steamed clams for the next week and I'll be mostly "off-line" except when I get a chance to use someone elses' computer (or, the ones at Kinkos like I'm using now).
