The strikers were not painted. As I recall, the mid year strikers are cadmium or zinc plated.

Strikers were on the car when painted, they....

were covered with a boot. So they should have some body color overspray around the edge next to the body. Same with the door latches, the flat, open area of the latch that fits under, or, inside the door edge and the four phillips head screws. The two phillips head screws that hold the window channel top and bottom were installed after body painting and should be black phos, not body color.

        Re: Other Door Strikers

        Joe,

I believe that what you are saying is true for 68 and up also, but I have wondered: there is a black phosphate spacer or washer behind the zinc plated washer...Was this spacer left black or was it painted just as Michael described for mid-years?

Ron, Both the male and female portions of the door latches on the mid years may exhibit varing degrees of body paint overspray. They were inplace during painting and covered with a boot.

            thank you all

I will put the latches in before painting but I think for the striker I will leave it off the car until after painting.
