    1962 T-10 Alpha Code

I've stumbled across what appears to be a 1962 era T-10 with a gear ratio ID tag affixed to the side cover stamped HH. Am seeking enlightenment as I'm not finding that listing in my limited Corvette library. Assume it's passenger car, but would like to know more regardless. Thanks, Dennis

Dennis, my 62 original 4 spd trans has a metal tag with an L stamped. What does the L mean?

    thanks, Chris

      Chris - L code is close ratio 4 speed w/ 2.20, 1.66, 1.31, 1:1 gears. Dennis

Thanks Dennis. I assume this is correct for my 62.

Dennis--glad you asked---wish you had the answer, too. Years ago, I pulled the information out of an old GM source, and John Amgwert and I put that info in the Restorer. I looked at that--no HH tag. The reason I know that is I bought a 62 tranny last year that had an HH tag on it also. There was not Vette VIN on the tranny---but no VIN at all! And it doesn't show up as a passenger car code, either. So, put it on the car, and challenge all of us judges to prove you wrong!!!

Yo Mike, Good to hear from you...

...fact is, I'm really not trying to fool anybody, just looking for info. The 4 speed in question wound up in a '57 Nomad I just acquired. As I assume you've noticed, very few of the cars we play with still have that side cover tag attached. I just became curious what it meant, ratio/use wise. And this one has no Corvette VIN, as you might expect, so I don't get to cash in on the owner giving me a call on his cell phone - thank goodness. Dennis
