I'm trying to research a 1961 Tonawanda (sorry) block stamping. On the flat machined surface at the rear of the block, just behind of the back of the intake manifold seal, facing up, is stamped "Y27". Nearby, there is also an "E" stamped in a different font.
Anyone have an idea of the meaning of those stampings?
Thanks,
Verne.
I suppose that's possible Jack, but I'd think the machinist might have used his initals, or the initials of his business rather than something fairly cryptic.
Don't know if it's relevent, but the block was cast on April 27 and assembled on May 25.
