What color should the conduit's be, body color or black? I had my car judged back in 94 and just know noticed I have a body colored (white) one and a black one. There must have been a NCRS judge for each door, because I did not get nicked for it. Thanks john

Let me try this again...
...if the power window door conduit shows up in the AIM under the electric window option and this conduit is noted with a part number, I'll bet you a cheeseburger it was installed dip painted semi black on all cars, after body paint, in St Louis. If I had my AIM in front of me, I could avoid this possible loss, but will take my chances... DC- Top

Re: Let me try this again...
Are there any factory photos in any books showing these conduits? How about any original power window cars that have not been repainted? I have a 1960 power window car but my car was repainted in 1982 and the window conduits were painted body color, most likely because they would not have known any better. Would really like to know the outcome of this as if they are supposed to be semi gloss black I would change them.- Top

As Jim S. notes, it would be nice...
...to nail this down. I've owned a '57, a'58 & a '62 equipped w/electric windows which is only a tiny knowledge base and it is not as if those 3 examples hadn't been touched. Let's keep looking... Dennis- Top

Re: Bring on the cheeseburgers...
Have been following this post and it seems like semi flat black is the popular opinion on the proper color of the conduits. As I have a 1960 with original power window setup, I thought I would go out and remove them and take a closer look. When I look at them with the doors open they are body color. As my car was repainted in 1982 (Honduras Maroon)from original Roman Red, they were painted as well, as were the screws that attach them to the doors. I never gave this any thought until reading this thread. So I removed the conduits, and when I had them off, the back side (which is not visable when installed) was semi flat black. There was no trace of Roman Red paint and the black paint looks original. In fact I don't think the conduits had ever been off. When they painted the car in 1982 they just sprayed over the fronts of the conduits and left the back that you couldn't see the original black color. So this agrees with the semi flat black opinion.- Top
