Trying to seperate 64- 4speed from engine. Two top guide pins in place and bottom bolts removed. See very minute gap on right side. Keep on wiggling? Don't want to beat on it. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. Back to wiggling.

Re: Transmission seperation
if you have all 4 bolts removed(and it appears you do) insert screwdriver between bell and case and pry gently(assume you have the tranny/engine raised a 1/4 " off the tranny mount by jacking off of the pan(with board under pan to prevent pan damage)). mike- Top

Re: Transmission seperation
Thanks Mike for the quick reply. Yes I have engine/trans elevated with floor jack and will now go back out and try prying (gently). I do see a very minute seperation on the top right side. Car has sat for 27 years)(shame on me).- Top

Re: Transmission seperation
It is always possible the bearing housing has rusted to the bellhousing. If so, spray some Liquid Wrench in from the top of the transmission so it will soak. Let soak a few hours and then try prying gently and a little on each side.
I'm assuming you have driven the car and that the clutch disc is not rusted to the input shaft also. If the disc has rusted to the input shaft, you may need to attempt removing the pressure plate with a wrench through the clutch fork opening, unless you are lucky enough to have a two-piece bellhousing.- Top

Re: Transmission seperation
Mike M. & Mike C. thanks for your help. I was able to finally seperate the trans from the engine after Mike M. chimed in. Took a litte bit of PB Blaster, putty knife and rubber hammer and a lot of wiggling but it eventually broke loose. After 27 years of sitting, no wonder the two became one. Thanks guys I really appreciate your advice.- Top
