    engine decals for 64

I purchased a pair of tin covers for my 327/300 hp '64 at Carlisle so I can finally take the incorrect Alm covers off. My question is two part about the correct decals for this engine. I saw a pair of reconditioned covers at Carlisle where the "327" was raised or embosed. The vendor told me they were the "good foil" decals not the "junky replacements" ( his words). The covers I bought appear to be very original and I don't see where the 327 numbers are raised up. I also see the 300hp decal was placed slighty up over the edge of the cover close to the bigger decal. I've looked at pictures with the decals placed this way and I've also saw pictures with the 300hp decal placed lower down on the cover below that edge.
So I need to know which decals are correct for my car and
the correct placement of the 300hp decal.
once I restore the covers correctly I then need to know the proper bolts to use and correct washers. The marks on the covers show a triangular shaped washer was used.

The large rectangular ornament in the center of the covers is indeed "raised up" in the "327" area. Also, the "300hp" (locatin may vary some) is a water soluable decal, not a mylar stick-on.

Thanks Bill. The 300hp decal is very worn on the covers and does indeed look to be the correct type as you mentioned. The covers need restoration but do not appear to have ever been painted before and are dent free. As far as placement of the 300 decal it sounds like it was up to the person who put them on the covers. In this case they placed them right below the 327 decal so they are up over the edge by about an 1/8". I guess if I returned the decals to this position it should be correct?

They were installed at St Louis, so some variation is to be expected. Look for "decalomania" on the assembly manual engine assenbly page.
