Are most all the spin on oil filter adapters the same quality or is one better than another? Anyone had any experience with Volunteer Products in TN??

Re: 64 Spin On Oil Filter Adapter
I've seen several that are different quality in how they are made, but can't remember seeing (or even if) there were names associated with the items. Basically, you need to have good solid wide sealing areas.
Without seeing, I couldn't comment. Most I've seen have worked ok.- Top

Re: 64 Spin On Oil Filter Adapter
I've seen some good comments about the ones you can get at Car Quest auto parts. If you buy the one from Volunteer, ask them who makes it. I bought one from Corvette Central and it was a Mr. Gasket, that I could buy locally for half the price.- Top

Re: 64 Spin On Oil Filter Adapter
I'd go for a GM adapter, assume it is still available, if not, it must be easily found in salvage yards. Used a Mr Gasket adapter on my SWC and one cold winter night 50 miles from home, heard a thump, saw oil pressure drop and instantly cut the motor. Found the filter and parts of the broken adapter on the shoulder of the road. Phoned a friend to take me to a local towing service/junk yard where the guy had an adapter. As I recall the adapter snapped in half. Bad part, bad luck, who knows..... but for peace of mind go GM.
