    66 hood repair help

The back section (under the hood)is separating in the middle from the top section. This allows the hood to flex where it would normally be rigid.
It looks like the two are bonnded in small sections about 3-4 inchs long.
What's the correct procedure to fix this?

As always thanks for the help and comments!

I think that you might be mistaking the non bonded inner edge with the bonded outer edge. The inner edge, done in the separated strips is not bonded. A non hardning cushion agent is used there.

          Wayne,

You're right, I think I mistook the cushion agent for a bond that had failed.
The hood is not separated on the outer edges only in the area in the middle.
The hood in question is on a 66 BB. My 64 SB hood is far more rigid.
What is the correct material to use to cushion the center section?

The factory used an orange colored substance, some call dum-dum. There are probably lots of non hardning puddies that would work OK. I use strip caulk most of the time.

I don't recall the precise trade names of the product, but most body/paint supply store folks will know what you want if you ask for "hood gumdrops" material.
