    This one is a no-brainer!

    '63 - '65 327 FI. Earlier FI engines are runner-up.

Can't argue with the FI canidates mentioned by Duke. Beings how you just "might" have a couple extra FI units stashed here or there, this shouldn't be a problem.

BTW...I tried to catch up with you at Carlisle on Sat, but Papa Smurf informed me that you were last seen with semi load of parts head'in back to the funny farm.

You're a rascel and a packrat and you should be ashamed...

65 had the best looking...65 FI,65 396 radio delete (no chrome ,all business)& didnt they make a few 409s in the big cars early on ? and also 65 bb had the prettest hood of all the Corvettes ( 67 being a very close 2nd).

I agree with Duke & Loren

              63-65 FI was the ultimate.

And Doc,what did ya expect from a bunch of old gearheads??? Didn't git the answer ya wanted did ya? Just my two cents worth from the Left Coast. Joe Lucia went to the Right Coast and I went the udder way.

                    Prettiest Engine?

It has to be the sixteen cylinder small block currently on display in the Speedway Museum in Lincoln Nebraska. You didn't say it had to be mass produced!

best engine for C of G in a race car

i would think that a LT-5,ZR-1 engine correct, would be top heavy becuse of the weight of all the cam gear in the heads and would raise the center of gravity of a race car more than say a all aluminum small block. you could lower the LT-5 engine in the chassis if you went to a dry sump oil system. come to think of it a all aluminum small block with a dry sump would be the best from the standpoint of C of G to get the best handling.
