C2 clock problem

Just finished replacing the clock in my 66 coupe. It's the electric replacement
mechanism which I got from one of the mailorder suppliers.All went together fine but clock doesn't work. There is power there as indicated by test light. Is there something I'm missing here ? or just received a bad unit? Thanks

I just replaced mine. One thing I noted was the new mechanism had a grounding tab that had to make contact with back of the clock case. Maybe check that.
Also the kit I have came with several new gears and it required the use of 3 of the old gears for the hands. Are you sure you are using the correct gears and not have a binding problem?

The tab is definitley touching the back panel.I did swap the gears as per the instructions and everything seemed to fit as it should. It does move freely when turning the set knob so I can only assume its not binding. You just plugged yours back in and it started ticking? Could I have done anything to blow this thing out? Power surge at re-connect? Are they that fragile?
