    66 Hood Ledge Weatherstrip

There is a single hood ledge weatherstrip sold for the 63-82 cars. Does the length need to be trimmed for a 66? In other words, is there a specific distance the weatherstrip runs down the long sides of the hood?

    Thank,

    Mike S

Yes, it needs to be trimmed for 66. I think the 66 TM&JG talks about this. Mine is too long, so I can't tell you what it is supposed to be, but I have seen correct ones and they are shorter than what is sold now a days.

check judging manual as previous post suggested but think the 63 to 66 W/S for hoods are cut just before the corners while the 67's wrap around the corners and are fastened at that point with a plastic rivet as well as the weatherstrip adhesive common to all the midyears. mike

'65's wrap around the corner and are cut even with the male hood latch pin. My '65 does not have the push pin. That's why it tends to come loose. I have a '67 hood that has the push pin hole.

            Mike S and NO.14,

----------All 65 to 67 Vettes had the hood ledge rubber wrap around the corner about 3 inchs. With that said, I have never ever seen a plastic rivet in any mid-year at that location. I guess Im not saying it didnt happen (somehow) but I cant imagine that this rivet would be factory, NO.14..........Bill S

Lots of and maybe even most 67s. I have seen it on late 66s, but I dont know the extent of the coverage or if they were originals. Maybe some with originals can help with that.
