Where do Corvette part suppliers such as MidAmerica, Eckler's, Zip, Virginia Vettes, Dr. Rebuild, etc. get their parts? (i.e. Who manufactures the parts?) How do I certify that the parts I buy are NCRS correct?

Re: Parts Suppliers
Stephen-----
All of the Corvette vendors get their parts from GM, AC-Delco, reproduction manufacturing sources, or their own manufacturing operations. Some reproduction parts are produced under the GM Restoration Parts program in which reproduction manufacturers are licensed and pay a fee for the use of GM blueprints/specifications, GM part numbers, and/or original tooling. However, not very much oversight is exercised with respect to this program and, in my opinion, many of the parts available through it are more like replacement parts and not reproduction parts. Conversely, many of the unlicensed reproduction parts are a better reproduction of original parts than some licensed reproductions.
There is NO certification program for ANY parts sold today which certifies that the parts meet OEM, NCRS, NCCB or the specifications of ANY "judging" organization. Even parts sold by GM under the original part number or those parts manufactured under the GM Restoration Parts license may not meet "judging" standards. This applies ONLY to "judging" criteria and not functionality of the part. The vast majority of the parts on the market will function perfectly. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
