71 Big Block stock crome Valve Covers?

I have what I think is and early 71 LS5 it has Tonawanda chrome stamped valve covers that look original. I have heard that they did have some spill over in 71 of these. Is there any way to determine what I have is stock from the factory or even GM production?

    Thanks, Ron

There's no way to tell,Ron,as all 71 BB valve covers were painted steel. It is noted that on even "Very Early" painted steel covers have the Tonowanda#1 decal.Unless you have some documentation on the chrome covers you will recieve a 20 point originality deduction.(see the Judging Guide.)
