I have a '66 with a sqeaky clutch pedal when depressing it. Sometimes after driving a few miles and if it is quite warm out it will go away, but then it just returns. Drives my wife and I nuts when in a lot of traffic with a lot of shifting. I just cannot seem to find where I can oil/lubricate. It seems like a very dumb question, but any suggestions are very welcome. Thanks for any help Don Z.

Re: Clutch Pedal Squeak

You need to oil or grease it at the clevis pin on the clutch pedal shaft (i.e. where the clutch pedal push rod attaches). Also, you need to be sure that all of the other pivot points in the linkage are greased.
If the baove doesn't do the trick, it may mean that you require new nylon bushings on the clutch and brake pedal shaft. These can be a "bear" to replace. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Does this mean Joe is back...??? Hope so.
Dennis------
I am, indeed, back home. I won't be here as much as usual for awhile, though, as many other things need to be taken care of after being away for over 2 weeks. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Clutch Pedal Squeak
Thanks Joe..This PM I temporarly used a little WD40 on all pivot points and it seemed to work at least for now. This winter I will use a little grease at all the pivot points and maybe I will solve my problem and we will have some peace while driving. Thanks again...Don Z.- Top

Re: Clutch Pedal Squeak

The pivot shaft for the clutch pedal rotates on two plastic bushings (one on each side of the support stamping), and also passes through two more plastic bushings in the ends of the pivot tube at the top of the brake pedal. When the old lube dries out, they squeak. The only permanent cure is to pull the support and replace all four of the bushings, clean and lube the shaft, and put it back together again. Steering column has to come out to pull the pedal support; clutch pedal shaft can't be removed with the pedal support in place.
