    70 Power Window Problems

I have a 70 350/300 Cpe with power windows. Since it is summer here in NY I have had the windows down and the TTops off since June. I recently had a problem with my battery going dead so I was checking for a short when I discovered that my drivers window will not go up. The passenger side works fine but nothing on the driver's side. I checked the wiring and it had been spliced and Bubba'd sometime in the past so I checked to see if the motor was getting power. Using the motor casing as a ground there was no juice flowing. When I tried an alternate ground it pulled a full load. I have several questions:
    1. Is the moror grounded? If so where is the ground as I don't see a ground wire.
    2. Removal of the motor requires the window to be raised. How can I raise the window to get at the motor?
    3. What suggestions do you have regarding replacement or rebuilding the motor?

I will clean up the Bubba'd wiring but that doesn't seem to be the problem. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as always.

on my 69 there is a black wire coming out of the door harness that plugs into a tab on the back end of the motor for ground.

      Tony:
On my '69 the original motors were grounded through the mounting bolts, and through the door hinge to the frame. This was a very poor ground and often failed. When I needed to purchase replacement motors the harness "adapter" that came with it had a ground pigtail. I would try jumping a ground from the motor body to a good known ground. Then see if the motor turns. If not, try tapping the motor with a hammer while the switch is pushed. Sometimes you can get a motor to move this way if the brushes are on a dead spot. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the responses. I am traveling this week but I will definitely try establishing a good ground before I start pulling and rebuilding motors.

Just in case does anyone know how to raise the window from the full down position?
