Hello to all, I put factory A/C from a wrecked car, in my "67" many years ago. Currently working on making it correct to 67. 66 and earlier had an STV and 67 a POA. Newly discovered info. Therefore, I am replacing my STV valve with a POA etc. I'd like to put the correct date coded Compressor in the car. Anyone able to email me a picture or provide additional details? Happy Motoring to all! Al W.

Re: 1967 L-79 AC Comp. dating
Al - Your post makes it sound like the system you installed is from a '66 or earlier midyear, so several of the components or the component configurations will be different from the corresponding components of the '67 C60 system. What picture(s) are you interested in? Pictures of, the Frigidaire label, compressor configuration, pulley, muffler, etc? Also, you'll want to find a rear compressor plate which has a manufacture date code appropriate to the compressor build date to make the compressor assembly "correct" and correctly dated. I'm sure someone can help with the pictures if you can specify your needs. Pete- Top

Re: 1967 L-79 AC Comp. dating
Thanks pete! I'm currently gathering info. and parts to convert system. I have the correct POA and Expansion valve and will seek whatever else I need. Took lots of pictures at Carlisle last week and should be able to identify more from them. I am trying to figure out if Compressor Casting 6555302 is correct and what a D 14 Y casting mark identifier could mean. My car has a 6-6-67 build date. I've had it since 1973 and raised four kids with it! (Same wife too!). Thanks for your interest. Al W. P.S. Who can supply a Frigidar label properly stamped? Hmmmm!- Top

Re: 1967 L-79 AC Comp. dating
Allan,
I am not aware of any supplier furnished stamped compressor foil label. However I stamped my own with an 1/8" punch set. I made a fixture to keep the alignment level. Others have recommended typewriter.

Re: 1967 L-79 AC Comp. dating
Allan,
My car is a 66 300hp. As I recently rebuilt the system last year I thought I'd offer my suggestions on the compressor label
66 foil label is unique. The stamping is, I believe is 2 digit month, 2 digit day, 1 digit shift,1 digit year but I would have to look that up for you to be sure. My compressor is an A-6 original type but I am not certain it is original. If you decifer the casting code on the compressor end advise. One problem you will probably have is no one makes dated/marked freon hoses.
Good luck

Re: 1967 L-79 AC Comp. dating
Hello Randy, Thanks for the response. I have a picture of what I believe to be the correct A-6 end plate. I can email it as an attachment if your interested. The foil label is going to be a challenge and thanks for your input. I'm not going for Top Flight so the hoses are not an issue. If I could get them I'd like it. I'll look for your response! Thanks!- Top
