    '62 air cleaner wing nuts

There was a discussion on the wing nuts earlier and I believe there was some disagreement on what is correct.

On my car I had the wing nut on the LH side of the attached photo. It has a washer and depressions in the wings. The middle one is the one I found on a stud on the air inlet on the firewall. It was blacked out with the rest of the firewall in some previous restoration. It looks like someone took it off the engine and threaded it on the vent stud and them forgot about it. The one on the right is Paragons replacement.

I believe the center one is correct for my 62 340 hp. Any comments?

    thanks, Chris

John, try again. Not supposed to need a password and I know in the past it is sometimes down.

I was able to view the photos of your album, only after entering my own password at the site.
          Nice photos!

I do not know what is wrong but you are supposed to be able to view w/o a password. It does say 63 people have looked at the wing nuts photo.

But my user name is chenige and password is chenige.
            thanks

If it does not work again I can send the photos to interested folks.

64 dollar question. Which one is correct. I am trying to learn to speak solid axlease again after over 30 years without one

                  I haven't a clue..

Sorry Dick, I'm not at all a 62 expert so I don't know which is correct. I just posted the pic for Chris. I think he did describe the differences and which is correct in his first post. I always thought they had a wider base but, again, 53-62 is totally out of my field. Hopefully, others that do know for sure will post.

                  Michael

Not saying that I know for sure, but the late Dale Pearman sent me the photo below about two years ago; he felt that these were the correct air cleaner wingnuts, and was working on having them tooled up to be reproduced shortly before his health problems began.

Thanks John. I may not remember tomorrow what they are supposed to look like, but there is a very obvious difference in the versions.
