    Damn Frances

The day before Frances we put the 67 up on the two post lift and the 2000 under it and forward. We then put a friends 89 sideways, behind the 2000 and another friends 50th anniversary behind that. We then secured and shuttered the doors and window. After Frances we opened the door and discovered the roof completly torn from the building. We got the 2000, the 89 and the 50th out the next day . The 89 had scratches on the nose but the 2000 and the 50th were ok. We came back yesterday with a portable generator and got the 67 down. it started right away!!. But the interior was flooded ( whats new for a midyear ). Were hoping to get a new and stronger roofer and start over again. I'll try and post some before and after pictures.

Well that really sucks! The Ramsey's stayed in their garage (Melbourne) and roof remained in place. Laureen built it...may want to call and learn her secrets for building a hurricane proof top!

What? A mid year convertible that leaks and isn't watertight? Surely you joke!

Seriously, I am glad things turned out well. From the news, it appears that you are lucky and should count your blessings.

            Count yourselve extremely lucky

With all the reported tornadoes that were spawned, and all the miniature ones that were not reported, I am surprised you had a '67 on the lift and not on the tops of the other cars.

For all the hoopla on how safe a lift is, anything that will snap a telephone pole will surely lift a '67 off those arms.

Glad you did as well as you did and good luck with the garage and cars.

For you floridians I feel you pain and I can only imagine how scary it must be having to leave you home to flee to saftey.I wish you all the best of luck!

I live in Rockland County New York about 40 minutes north of NCY. If some of you folks need to get your cars to saftey for sure I could put up 3 collectable cars in secure storage (my garages) for a short time.(how long is huricane season?) I wish you folks all the best and I have you in my thoughts. My inlaws have property in clear water so we are following the news closely.

Just a thought but has anyone used one of those containers for secure storage? They seem heavy enough and could be anchored easily enough. They also must be water tight to go across the ocean on a ship.

                  Larry,

I live near Clearwater so if things get ugly there during Ivan and you want someone to check on their house, let me know. As long as I don't have damage here and the roads are still open, I can scoot over and have a look.
