I need to know if power brake 1969 vettes use the pedal shaft mounted return spring #3921686. I know that the manual brake cars do. The Chevy parts book list only one spring with out menton of the type of brakes. If you look-up part #3908761 Spring bushing it list Manual brakes only.

Re: Brake pedal return spring C3
Gilbert, the brake pedal return spring is the same for both standard and power brakes (J50)...GM PN 3921686. There is no mention of another pedal return spring in AIM Section J50 for power brakes. If it's any help to you, the pedal return spring on my 70 with power brakes is painted orange.
Here's hint for determining if an option changes any parts installed on the car: Go the option section in the back of the AIM (Assembly Instruction Manual); the option section will indicate all parts on the vehicle that must be changed because of that option. In some cases, the affected parts will be listed, but not specifically illustrated.
In my Corvette part book, there is no PN 3908761. There must be a typo because this does not show in my book as a Corvette service part. There is a PN 3908768, pedal return spring bushing, and the part book does note "exc. P. B." for that part. However, I can find no evidence in the 70 AIM that the bushing is omitted or changed for the power brake option.- Top
