My 62 has never had the rear springs out since new and the car is starting to sit a little low in the rear, any thoughts on rearching the rear springs or are there any quality replacements out that will correct the car to it's factory ride height. Seems that I see many C-1s that sit way to high in the rear after being restored and I don't want one of them. Thanks for the help.

Re: C-1 Rear Springs rearch or replace?
Gary,
If those are the original springs I would get them re-done. I have a 62 also with the original springs that I'm restoring per NCRS guidelines. I took advice from many NCRS members and had them done at Eaton Spring Manufacturing. They are located in Detroit Michigan. Be careful, there is a proper way to re-condition them, they can not be cold worked to re-establish the correct arch, this would only correct the ride height for a short period of time. Springs have memory and to overcome this they need to be annealed and then re-heat treated. Eaton's process ( I'll take some liberty here) is to clean, heat at an elevated temperature, cool at room temperature, place springs in fixure to obtain desired arch, heat spring and fixture and then followed by a quench to obtain the correct hardness which is verified by a brinell test for hardness. The cost for this service was $400.00 and I did the assembly and banding afterwards. Email me for the telephone number if you need.- Top
