76 color question...

The black book states that 39 - dark green metallic was the original color choice for 76 but that it was changed to 33, dark green. It then goes on to say that the records show one 39 was made.

Has this been confirmed?

Any info on where the car resides or a vin from a registry or the records, etc. etc.?

Production figures flow from GM build records. They knew what was pumped out the doors of the factory, but things turn into a 'jungle' thereafter since cars were shipped to dealers, dealers then sold the cars to 1st buyers (sometimes with considerable inventory/lag), and 1st owner info trickled back to the warranty data base which was maintained just long enough to honor warranty obligations. It would be a complete serendipity if someone happens to know the ownership history of a given car....

..but what I'm really after is that the black book says that one car was made with color #39.

Does anyone know if this was just pulled from the plant records, or has it been confirmed by someone showing they actually have the car...

The exact text of what's published in the Corvette Black Book is pretty darn clear....

"* Early Chevrolet order guides show an exterior code 39 for Dark Green Metalic. This code was changed to code 33, but PRODUCTION RECORDS [emphasis added] indicate one code 39 Dark Green Metalic Corvette built."

Can't be much clearer; the author is saying his source for the data is Chevrolet production records....
