I have a pair of original style, non seam, valve covers for a 60 - 66 small block. Around the perimeter, gasket surface area, there are six very small holes. Approximately .060, evenly spaced two on each end and two in the middle. Are these holes supposed to be there? Are these for a particular year? They are on my 61, which I have owned since '75 and know the history since 1969. The holes are approximately in the corners and middle. Thanks for any ideas, comments.
Pretty sure these holes are not original. Never seen any others like that. I can only speculate that someone may have drilled these holes to tie a gasket in place during installation???. I really can't imagine doing that, but some people do some strange things!!
Thanks for the response. These holes are to perfect in form and placement to be a backyard job, and you would pierce the gasket with anything pushed through them. I've never seen any others like this either but they are so perfectly located and done? Who knows sometimes what brilliant ideas people think of.
