60 Corvette, New Front Clip, or Repair?

I am looking at a new front clip from corvette image. Question is I want to go for top flight, will their press moulded jig assembled front end pass judging or will I take a points hit? Or I can just put the top surround in and repair the sides which will be a lot of extra work. My final goal is top flight or possibly duntov, the work requried does not matter, I just want to know what is the best in the long run. Thanks Bill

Bill, I just helped an NCRS friend put one of the Corvette Image jig assembled front ends on his car. Of course, the car hasn't been painted or judged yet, but I was quite impressed with the way it appeared. Also, saved him a ton of body repair which, I'm quite sure, would ultimately be visible. If you do it, get several helping hands and experiment with doing a thorough job of mixing the bonding compound with the amount of hardener that will allow you plenty of time to put it in place. We were lucky by about 5 minutes - too close for comfort. Also, before bonding, check fit of hood with front clip in place.

One thing I learned....Do a good job under the body. To get it to blend in properly, you might even consider beard blasing before painting, for sanding can be a bear in some area's.
