'63 ECL code help

I am looking at a '63 coupe with an interior trim code of 898 E

According to some information, the ECL code of "E " would indicate a car with C60 air conditioning (which this car does not have)

The car was built of Feb 22, 1963. With the changes and implementation timings of the production ECLs could this car have been produced without A/C?

Serial number is 9XXX

First do not even worry about the presence of A/C

until around 13/14000 VIN. I know of a lady who ordered it with A/C on Oct 1 and did not receive the car until May. Second there a bunch of running changes in the Trim codes for 1963 and you can almost take to the bank the proposition that at any given times errors could occur. In roughly the same time period that you refer to #9629 and #9892 also have 898E trim codes and neither claims A/C.

As Loren has stated, the problem with the E was common in the early part of the 63 calendar year. (January-February) I know of another February 63 with leather and 898E but it does not have AC. If I remember correctly, you have to use the previous list of ECL's released for the months of November or December to have it come out right.
