1974 convertible top restraining cable

My 1974 has 5"+/- cable that attaches to the left side of the top frame at the point where the frame is bolted to the body. When the top is released from the rear deck and folded the cable limits how far the top can be folded back upon itself.

I am replacing the top and the cable is broken. I called Al Knoch and they knew what I was talking about but said they didn't stock the cable and had no used ones on hand.

Anybody know what the cable is called and where I can find one? I can't find it in the Assembly Manual or in any of the parts catalogs I have.

Vette Products of MI pt#13975 for a pair. It is probably available from most of the major vendors

Dick You only need one and it's the short cable on the frame. I could use at least one also. Lyle

I thought the same as you and ordered the cables last month from Al Knoch only to find that they are the ones that are over the windows. Lyle is right, I am looking for the single cable that attaches to the frame where it's bolted to the body. From the lack of replies it looks like I might have to make one up from scratch.

The broken cable is still on my car so I take it off and measure it for the right length. Thanks.
