I sent my lap belts to Ssnake-Oyl and was a bit surprised at the cost. They told me my tongue (male) ends were quite valuable--$900. They said they have none and can't find any. I know there are reproductions available from Paragon, etc. What's the difference?

Re: '69 seat belts

The 1969 seat belts were of a unique configuration. The male end ("D-ring") was part of this unique configuration. Early belts had a wide, narrow slot in the D-ring for lock engagement; later 1969 had a rectangular hole for lock engagement. I think that the early style is the least common and may be the more valuable of the 2.
The other feature which was unique to 1969 seat belt D rings was the hole for the attachment of the shoulder harness. This was unique to 1969, both early and late belts had them and regardless of whether the car was equipped with shoulder belts or not (all coupes had them, but very few convertibles as they were optional for convertibles). In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
