    Two question's on f41 shocks

I seen from a past post latley that the 3171488 F41 shock was used from 66-67. What were the number's of the frt f41 shock's used after that? Were the 4910607 rear's used from 66-82? Thanks for the help john

Re: Two question's on f41 shocks

    John----

For the period of 1964 through, at least, mid 1969, the following HD shocks were used in PRODUCTION:

    front-----GM #3171488
    rear------GM #3171489

The above-referenced shocks used a tube diameter of 2-5/16". The rear shock used no debris guard for the shock rod. The rear shock has the characteristic " coullee hat" at the top of the shock rod and this is hat is 2.5" OD.

The mid 69 to 1971 period is one of some "ambiguity". Sometime during this period, the PRODUCTION front HD shocks changed to GM #4949806. Also, sometime during this period, but not necessarily the same time as the front shocks changed, the rear shocks changed to GM #4940607. These shocks had a tube diameter of about 2". The debris guard was still not used on the rear shock, but the "coullee hat" was reconfigured somewhat and reduced in diameter to about 1.75" to 2".

The GM #4949806 and GM #4940607 were used in PRODUCTION through about the end of the 1974 model year for F-41 and FE-7 HD suspension.
