I bought a 2818 Holley off of ebay to put on my 65 Coupe. I sent it to a carb restorer to get rebuilt and he called me and said I got ripped. He said the baseplate was for a Ford and one of the metering blocks was not correct. He sold me one he had in stock and sent both back to me. To me they look the same. I even measured everything and they check the same. They are both List 2818, one is dated 431 the other is 451. Do judges check numbers on metering blocks and baseplates as well? The only differance I see between the two is the ebay carb does have the wrong linkage arm where the throttle hooks up.

Re: What Holley numbers are checked during judging
Metering blocks, maybe, but throttle arm configuration is a definate "gotcha" to anyone remotely familiar with a Chevrolet Holley, as are specific configurations of the baseplate.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Matt:
Here is how your numbers should look.
Primary block..............4094
Secondary block............4099
Air horn:
3849804
LIST 2818 (early)
LIST 2818 - 1 (after 11/64)
XYZ (x=year, y=month, z=week in month)
431 date........1964, 3rd month, 1st week of the month
451 date........1964, 5th month, 1st week of the month
The "431" date is too early for a 1965 engine. The "451" is AOK if your engine was assembled before about December 1964 (using the 6 month rule of thumb).
