    i believe that there was a federal law

    inacted to require less RFI from engines but i am not sure what year. i bet they use the "R" plugs in the early 6 cyl.corvettes to prevent RFI with the radio and the V-8 corvettes used the shielding

      There was a guy across from our space at Carlisle who had hundreds of boxes of NOS 44 plugs; he wanted outrageous money for them, and took most of them home with him. R45S plugs work great for me in all my SB's, and every auto parts store has them (or can get them overnight). The 46's were discontinued about two years ago (and were Flint Engine-installed in 2x4 engines from mid-'57 onward, in spite of what the owner's manuals and shop manuals say).
