Re: CARB TORQUE SPEC
Fred The 63 Shop Manual p14-4 indicates 35-45 FT LBs and does not distinguish between cast iron and aluminum manifolds. I believe that is incorrect for the 340hp and I just snugged them down to approximately 5 ft lbs. I think that much more than that will cause either stud failure.- Top

CARB TORQUE SPEC
Les, Yes, 35 to 45 ft lbs is much too high. The torque spec for the intake manifold TO THE HEAD is 40 ft. pounds. That would snap the small diam. carb mounting studs for sure. Must be a mis-print. Anyone else have input, although 5 ft. pounds sounds more like it. THANKS, Fred- Top

Re: CARB TORQUE SPEC
Fred,
The factory torque spec for carburetor mounting nuts is 14-18 ft lbs. I would shoot for the minimum, or less, and I would be even more comfortible with about 120 inch lbs.- Top
