A friend of mine is looking at a 97. Removable top and auto trans. Any inherent problems to look for in a 97? (he has seen the light and is switching over from the Porsche camp) Unfortunately I'm into solid axel cars and cannot help him much in the C5 arena. TIA Ken

Re: C5 question
I recall the early ones had problems with the leather too soft on the interior but by that may have been replaced. Seems like there they may have been a few other recall issues.
The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration website lists the Technical Service Bulletins all the way back to 1952. You can search by model year, model or component. This is the place to go for recall information as well for any give Corvette production year...like 1997. The NHTSA website iswww.nhtsa.dot.gov.Tom Russo

Re: C5 question
I used to own a 2000, now I'm starting the slow process to restore my dad's 67. I heard from a lot of guys on the CorvetteForum that they had no problems with their '97's. That said, check out the relative number of TSB's (temporary service bulletins) that were sent out by GM on the '97s.
Here's a link.
